The trailer for the Showmax series Catch Me A Killer is now available to watch, Deadline reports. This series is about a legendary serial killer profiler who resides in South Africa. The star will be Game Of Thrones alum Charlotte Hope (The Spanish Princess, The Nun, The Piper).
According to Deadline, the show is inspired by a memoir written by Micki Pistorius (Profiling Serial Killers, Fatal Females, Strangers on the Street), who is the famous profiler in question, and it will be a limited ten-episode show. The series will focus on the profiler on the quest to send to justice the most macabre killers in South Africa, in which every single episode will focus on one of her cases.
“Catch Me A Killer is the true story of the first serial killer profiler in South Africa,” Hope stated in an exclusive Showmax interview, via Deadline. “She is called Micki Pistorius and, frankly, she’s amazing.”
“Catch Me A Killer is about Micki’s experience of trying to understand the psychology of serial killers, but it’s also more than that,” Hope explains in the Showmax interview. She continued, “On one hand it’s a true crime: every week we have a different episode, a different serial killer and a different case to solve. But it’s also a character study. This is a woman who goes through a huge emotional journey; in understanding the psychology of the killers, she’s also aware of what’s happening psychologically to herself.”
According to Deadline, the show is co-produced by Germany’s Night Train Media. Sarah Hooper is the lead writer (Emmerdale Farm, Fate: The Winx Saga, Mount Pleasant), along with SAFTA winner Amy Jephta (Ellen: The Ellen Pakkies Story, Other People’s Lives, While You Weren’t Looking), Oliver Frampton (The Forgotten, Life of Crime, Grantchester), and Jessica Ruston (Young Wallander, Sanctuary: A Witch’s Tale, Around the World in 80 Days). The Showmax app will be launched next month and as stated beforehand, the show will star Hope as Micki Pestorius.
Catch Me A Killer will be released on Feb. 12 on Showmax. The trailer can be seen here.
