Netflix’s series Élite has released the trailer for its eighth and final season, Deadline reports. According to the news outlet, this show is now the streamer’s longest-running scripted Spanish series. Check out the trailer below:
Élite, according to Deadline, has been airing on the streamer since 2018 and featured a complete change in cast members after the third season, which are the ones completing the story now in the last season. The show revolves around the secrets, forbidden relationships and rich lives that a group of three different working-class students share. These students are enrolled in the famous elite school named Las Encinas, and most have been accepted through a scholarship program.
According to Deadline, the official synopsis of the eighth and final season shows the arrival of two new students in the scholarship program, siblings Héctor and Emilia Krawietz, who are leaders of the Las Encinas Alumni Association. They will threaten to ruin the reputations and lives of the other students by creating chaos. Omar will be the only one courageous enough to face and destroy them. Furthermore, the murder of another character makes the previous characters’ lives fall even more apart as they try to understand who was between them that murdered their friend.
The teen drama was created by Jaime Vaca (Aula de castigo, Lluvia: Sóner records) and Carlos Montero (The Mess You Leave Behind, Physics or Chemistry), according to Deadline. Season eight includes Omar Ayuso (Matar a la Madre, Los Farad), Valentina Zenere (Soy Luna, Cable Girls), André Lamoglia (Juacas, Bia), Gleb Abrosimov (Macho Boys Don’t Cry), Mirela Balić (Mala Influencia, Code Name Emperor), Fernando Líndez (Skam España, Escándalo, relato de una obsesión) Ander Puig (Alive And Kicking, Ser o no ser), Nadia Al Saidi (Cómo mandarlo todo a la mierda, Laura y el misterio del asesino inesperado), Carmen Arrufat (The Innocence, Todos Mienten), Iván Mendes (Sara’s Notebook, Dos Vidas), Mina el Hammani (Trenta Segundos, El Principe) and Maribel Verdú (Pan’s Labyrinth, Blancanieves).
According to Deadline, new stars added to the cast are Nuno Gallego (Sigue Mi Voz, Gangs of Galicia), Ane Rot (Killer Book Club, Insatisfacción), Alexandra Pino (Caronte, Twin Flame), Mario Ermito (Don Matteo, Detective Per Caso), and many more.
In October 2023, Montero was the one to confirm to fans that the last season would be the eighth in a special statement. “We ended on a high note,” he explained via Deadline. “Jaime [Vaca, the co-showrunner for the seventh season of the series], Netflix and I thought it was time to end it. I say this with great regret because it’s been several incredible years in which I’ve met wonderful actors, we’ve worked with all the directors we wanted to work with and we’ve had the luxury of having Maribel these last two seasons. Élite changed everyone’s life, there are actors who started with us and it has been their springboard to be now world stars, it is happening to this cast and it is a pride to have contributed to that and to know that they have seen us all over the world and liked it.”
The eighth and final season of Élite will be released on July 26 on Netflix.
