The writing duo Ben Kroengold and Rebecca Shaw, known for their work on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon, and their viral Yale graduation speech, are moving onto a new and exciting project. FX has picked them up for a writing and executive producing gig for the new show Snowflakes. Comedian and Big Mouth co-creator Nick Kroll is slated to executive produce.
According to The Hollywood Reporter, the new series is described as “following a group of codependent housemates trying to be good people, despite being neither ‘good’ nor ‘people’ yet.”
Shaw and Krogenhold previously wrote for The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon. They got the gig after going viral with their graduation speech at Yale University. Upon graduation, they were both hired and became the youngest people to write for the show in its history. They also have recently published a book titled Naked in the Rideshare: Stories of Gross Miscalculations, a short story collection that includes comedic tales, funny happenstances, and short comedy sketches.
Kroll, who is executive producing the series, has some credits himself with FX. He starred in the comedy series The League and guest starred in the hit vampire comedy What We Do In The Shadows. With this, he is known for his co-creation of the Netflix animated series Big Mouth and the live theatrical comedy show Oh, Hello! which he co-starred in with comedian John Mulaney (Saturday Night Live).
The series will also be directed by Jonathan Kristen who directed the pilot of the FX series English Teacher. He also served as a showrunner for Baskets and Portlandia and previously worked with Kroll when he produced Kroll Show.
There is yet to be a set premiere date for Snowflakes or a clear idea as to when filming and production will begin, but comedy fans are eager to see the work of the writing duo and Nick Kroll. Snowflakes will premiere on FX.
