Tom Selleck Speaks Out On ‘Blue Bloods’ Ending With Season 14

The hit CBS police drama series Blue Bloods will end with its 14th season this year, and actor Tom Selleck (In & Out, Magnum, P.I.) has spoken out about his feelings. During an interview with TV Insider and according to Entertainment Weekly, Selleck expressed his disapproval of the show’s conclusion. Selleck also stated that “we’re not out of ideas” for the series.

“CBS will find an awful lot of people aren’t ready to say goodbye to it,” said Selleck to TV Insider about the police drama series, which is more than a decade old.

“The show’s more popular than ever, and I think [numbers] will increase with the interest this year.”

Blue Bloods first debuted back in 2010 and stars Selleck, Bridget Moynahan (I, Robot, The Sum of All Fears), Donnie Wahlberg (Saw II, Dead Silence), Len Cariou (About Schmidt, Spotlight) and Will Estes (U-571, The Dark Knight Rises)

Selleck is not ready to say goodbye to the force. Entertainment Weekly notes that after he was asked by TV Insider if he was prepared to retire from the show, he said: “I love the work. I’m not counting the days so I can do something else. Sometimes the hours are a little harder because I’m older, but so what? I want work as long as they’ll have me.”

Selleck has mourned the ending of Blue Bloods before; when the news first broke of the series’ end, he sent out a statement to fans that read: “For the past 13 years, it has been an honor and a privilege to work on a show that not only celebrates the men and women who protect and serve in New York City, but also displayed the importance of family,” Selleck said as per Entertainment Weekly. “Working alongside these incredible actors, writers, producers, directors, and crew has been a dream come true and I’m grateful to have been a part of this extraordinary group for over 275 episodes.”

Blue Bloods’ final season will come in two parts with the first half premiering on February 16 on CBS and the second half to premiere later this year.
