Tom Selleck Hopes CBS Reconsiders ‘Blue Bloods’ Cancellation

According to Deadline, Tom Selleck (Magnum, P.I., Las Vegas) is hoping CBS will overturn its decision to close the doors on the hit drama series Blue Bloods and that fans will be able to enjoy the Reagan family for many more years to come.

Deadline notes that Selleck recently sat down for an interview with CBS News and said, “I will continue to think that CBS will come to their senses. We’re the third-highest scripted show in all of broadcast. We’re winning the night. All the cast wants to come back. And I can tell you this: we aren’t sliding off down a cliff. We’re doing good shows and still holding our place. So, I don’t know. You tell me!”

Selleck has portrayed Commissioner Frank Reagan since the CBS procedural first aired in 2010.

As per Deadline, in a recent press conference regarding the network’s fall schedule, Amy Reisenbach, the president of CBS Entertainment, restated that Blue Bloods would conclude with its 14th season this fall by saying to reporters, “We really want to thank the cast and crew, everyone involved in the show. We absolutely will miss the family dinners. It is important to give show the sendoff it deserves.”

Deadline also notes that the cast of Blue Bloods requested the network to reconsider its decision. Reisenbach acknowledged the request by saying, “We love this cast, we love their passion for the show. All shows have to come to an end. It’s important to us to refresh the schedule. We are going to end the show come December.”

Blue Bloods follows the Reagan family, who all work in law enforcement in NYC. Selleck stars alongside Len Cariou (When They See Us, About Schmidt), Will Estes (The Dark Knight Rises, American Dreams), Donnie Wahlberg (Saw II, Dead Silence) and Bridget Moynahan (I, Robot, The Sum of All Fears)
