During the 2021 MTV Movie & TV Awards on May 16, Tom Hiddleston (Avengers: Endgame) arrived via video call to present a new clip from the next Marvel television series, Loki. In the clip, Owen Wilson (Night at the Museum) introduces himself as Agent Mobius, member of the Time Variance Authority (TVA), via Deadline.
In the clip, Loki and Agent Mobius stand in an elevator at the TVA headquarters. Mobius attempts to introduce himself to Loki, revealing he knows as much about the God of Mischief as longtime MCU fans do. Loki then patronizes Mobius regarding the agency and their dedication to “three space lizards” known as The Time Keepers.
Loki is set to follow the events of Avengers: Endgame, via Deadline, but will explore many different points within the MCU timeline. After the Avengers return to 2012 New York in Avengers: Endgame, Loki escapes from the timeline with the Tesseract, and is intercepted by the TVA.
According to Deadline, the series, which will consist of six episodes, was created by Michael Waldron (writer and producer, Ricky and Morty). Waldron additionally serves as the series’ head writer. Kate Herron (director, Sex Education) will direct the entire series.
In addition to Hiddleston and Wilson, Sophia Di Martino (Flowers), Wunmi Mosaku (Lovecraft Country), Gugu Mbatha-Raw (The Morning Show), and Richard E. Grant (Can You Ever Forgive Me?) will star in Loki, via Deadline. The series will mark Hiddleston’s seventh appearance as Loki, while also being the character’s first solo project.
Loki will begin streaming on Disney+ June 9, with weekly episodes being added each week on Wednesday. Watch the trailer for Loki below.
