Tom Hardy (Venom, Mad Max: Fury Road) has reportedly exited Paramount crime drama MobLand ahead of a potential third season following alleged behind-the-scenes tensions during production, according to Variety. The report states that Paramount allegedly decided not to move forward with Hardy for a third season after reported clashes involving producers and members of the creative team during season two production.
According to reports cited by Variety, Hardy was allegedly frequently late to set, pushed for script changes, and became frustrated with the show’s evolving ensemble direction. This coincides with previous allegations of Hardy on other sets noted in the report, mentioning Hardy’s falling out with co-star Charlize Theron (Apex, Monster) during the filming of Mad Max: Fury Road.
MobLand stars Hardy as Harry Da Souza, a fixer working for the Harrigan crime family in London. The series also stars Pierce Brosnan (GoldenEye, Mamma Mia!) as Conrad Harrigan and Helen Mirren (The Queen, 1923) as Maeve Harrigan. Guy Ritchie (Snatch, The Gentlemen) serves as executive producer and directed multiple episodes of the series.
Variety notes tensions during season two production allegedly became severe enough that executive producer Jez Butterworth (Ford v Ferrari, Edge of Tomorrow) nearly left the series. Paramount, Hardy, and other individuals connected to the production have not publicly commented on the situation.
Season two reportedly finished filming earlier this year, though Paramount has not yet announced a release date. The series also has not officially received a third-season renewal despite reports suggesting the franchise could continue beyond season two.
mxdwn has previously covered Hardy’s continued involvement in major television projects outside of MobLand. One earlier report focused on Hardy teaming with Peaky Blinders creator Steven Knight (Peaky Blinders, See) for a new adaptation of Charles Dickens’ Great Expectations. That coverage highlighted Hardy’s growing presence in prestige television projects and his continued collaborations with major creators tied to crime and period dramas.
When MobLand premiered in 2025, it became one of Paramount’s biggest launches, reportedly drawing 2.2 million viewers globally. The latest reports surrounding MobLand now cast uncertainty over the series’ future direction, especially if Paramount continues the franchise without Hardy in a possible third season.
