

Apple TV+ has announced a major expansion of its hit series Monarch: Legacy of Monsters, greenlighting an untitled spin-off prequel focusing on the journeying of a fan favorite character, Colonel Lee Shaw, played by Wyatt Russel (Overlord, Thunderbolts). According to Apple, what we currently know about the plot of the prequel will follow Shaw on a high-stakes mission behind enemy lines to stop them from unleashing a new titan that could potentially destroy the world and shift the balance of power.
Stated by Apple, the platform’s head of international content development, Morgan Wandell speaks about series’s popularity and it expansion, “Viewers around the world haven’t been able to get enough of ‘Monarch: Legacy of Monsters’ since its global debut, and we cannot wait to unleash the electrifying new stories that Joby and the entire cast and creative team have been working on.” Reported by Apple, the new projects will be directed by current series showrunner Joby Harold (Army of the Dead, Robin Hood), who ensures the audience that the rampage of titans has not ended and that new stories are to be discovered.
According to mxdwn, the first season ended with Cate, played by Anna Sawai (Shogun, F9) May, played by Kiersey Clemons (The Flash, Cloud 9) and Keiko, played by Mari Yamamoto (Tokyo Vice, Kate) returning from Hollow Earth, in which to years have passed and that the monarch organization evolved and now functional worldwide. The series successfully reintroduced legendary creatures like King Kong and Godzilla, while also unveiling exciting new ones such as the Ion Dragon and Mantleclaw.
The move marks a strategic shift for the Monsterverse, evolving from a series of blockbuster films into a deeply layered television universe. Viewers have been waiting eagerly for the second season of Monarch: Legacy of Monsters which is scheduled to debut on Apple Tv February 27, while the wait the entire first season is available to stream.
