

The anticipation for the highly awaited second season of Netflix’s live-action One Piece has just increased due to the recent update by the company. According to Comicbook, Netflix released a recent X post which celebrates the birthday of the series’ main character Luffy. Fans see Iñaki Godoy (The Imperfects, MexZombies), who is seen wearing a fuzzy hat with antlers which belongs to none another than Tony Tony Chopper.

Chopper, voiced by Brina Palencia (Fairy Tail: 100 Year Quest, My Hero Academia), is a major character within the anime, being the Straw Hat Pirate’s doctor and able to transform into various hybrid forms. According to Comicbook, this subtle reveal has sent the fanbase into a frenzy, eager to see how Netflix will bring the uninque character of Chopper to life.
Mackenyu (Over Drive,Knights of the Zodiac), who plays Zoro, expressed his excitement about working alongside Chopper in an interview with Comicbook.
“I’m trying not to spoil anything, but there’s a lot of new characters coming out. The arc — [“One Piece” creator Eiichiro Oda,] Oda-sensei announced it — we’re going to cover till Chopper comes out.” As for Chopper’s part in it all, Mackenyu teased the live-action take with, “And I met Chopper! He was the cutest! Oh, my God, I’m a Chopper fan. So just being able to act beside him is crazy. It was something special to bring home.”
According to a mxdwn post, the second season will continue the story of the Straw Hats as they travel across the sea and meet new characters, which include Vivi Nefertari, played by Charitha Chandran (Eternals, Dune: Prophecy), and Dr. Kureha, played by Katey Sagal (Pitch Perfect Futurama).
While fans await on the official reveal of the beloved Chopper, and who will be playing him in the upcoming season, the entire first season of the live action One Piece is available to stream on Netflix.
