While the infamous zoo owner and Tiger King star Joe Exotic was just recently sentenced to years in prison and losing the Oklahoma zoo to his nemesis Carole Baskin, the band behind his songs and the show’s soundtrack have just released a song dedicated to Baskin entitled “Killer Carole” via, Entertainment Weekly. The now one-man band, the Vince Johnson Band, wrote and performed songs that were featured on the show, like “I Saw A Tiger.”
Tiger King, Netflix’s 8 episode documentary series, follows a 16-acre Oklahoma zoo owned by Joe Exotic. The series also featured music videos and songs performed by Exotic throughout the drama. The newest addition to Tiger King’s soundtrack, “Killer Carole” is based on Big Cat Rescue founder Carole Baskin and Exotic’s allegations that she killed her second husband Don Lewis and fed him to her tigers, via Entertainment Weekly. Animal rights activist Baskin is Exotic’s arch-nemesis, as she continuously attempts to shut down his zoo throughout the series. Further developments in Exotic’s allegations have shown that Baskin allegedly forged her missing husband’s will, as released from Florida police last week.
While Baskin has recently taken control of Exotic’s zoo as part of her lawsuit settlement, Exotic is currently in jail with 17 charges of animal abuse and 2 counts of murder for hire attempting to kill Baskin. The Vince Johnson Band has revealed that songs featured in Tiger King will be gathered into an album and released to the public later in 2020.
