According to Deadline, Emilia Jones (CODA, Locke & Key) and Thuso Mbedu (Is’Thunzi, The Underground Railroad) have been cast in the Untitled Brad Ingelsby (Run All Night, The Way Back) Task Force Project alongside Mark Ruffalo (Shutter Island, The Avengers). The series is currently in the pre-production stage.
Jones will portray Maeve, Robbie’s (Tom Pelphrey) niece who looks after his children. Mbedu will portray Aleah, a Sergeant Detective part of the task force.
The news of Jones and Mbedu’s casting comes days after it was reported that Tom Pelphrey (Iron Fist, Love & Death) had also joined the series.
The series is executive produced by Ingelsby, Ruffalo, Jeremy Yaches (We the Animals, The Last Ice Merchant) for Public Record, David Crockett (The Gilded Age, Gone Baby Gone), Mark Roybal (No Country for Old Men, Those Who Wish Me Dead) for wiip Productions, Paul Lee (The Summer I Turned Pretty, White House Plumbers) also for wiip Productions, Salli Richardson-Whitfield (A Low Down Dirty Shame, Eureka), Nicole Jordan-Webber (A Star is Born, Under the Lights), and Jeremiah Zagar (The Fix, 7 Deadly Sins). Richardson-Whitfield and Zagar both direct episodes of the series.
According to Deadline, “the series is set in the working-class suburbs outside of Philadelphia and follows an FBI agent who heads a Task Force. His goal is to put an end to a string of drug-house robberies led by an unsuspecting family man.” The series was written by Ingelsby.
Jones recently starred in the black comedy drama film Winner with Kathryn Newton (Big Little Lies, The Society), Connie Britton (Friday Night Light, American Horror Story), and Zach Galifianakis (The Hangover, Between Two Ferns with Zach Galifianakis).
Mbedu recently appeared in the adult animated dark fantasy action television series Castlevania: Nocturne. She voice acted alongside Edward Bluemel (A Discovery of Witches, Killing Eve) and Pixie Davies (Miss Peregrine’s Home for Peculiar Children, Mary Poppins Returns).
