Veteran actor Al Brown (Fartcopter, Red Dragon), most known for his role in the popular show The Wire, has made an unfortunate demise at the age of 83, according to CNN. Brown’s character on The Wire was a Polish-American police commander named Stanislaus “Stan” Valchek. Brown passed away on Friday, January 13, 2023.
The actor’s daughter, Jenny, told TMZ that the actor passed due to battle with Alzheimer’s disease, according to FOX8. The news of the actor’s death was announced on his YouTube channel and Facebook page. The post goes as follows:
“My name is Michael. I manage Al’s Facebook page. I am sad to let you know that angels came for Al yesterday morning, Friday, January 13, 2023. May his memory be a blessing to his family, his friends, and each of you. This page will remain as a testimony to Al’s work and love for his fans.”
Brown began acting in the 1990s with small roles in television, such as Homicide: Life on the Street and The F.B.I. Files, and movies, such as 12 Monkeys and The Replacement. He made his breakthrough role in 2002 with The Wire created by David Simon (The Corner. Homicide: Life on the Street), according to Entertainment Weekly, where he acted for all five seasons of the show.
Brown is survived by his children and extended family members.
