According to Deadline, HBO’s The White Lotus will conclude its highly anticipated third season with an extended finale, set to run nearly 90 minutes. This makes it the longest episode in the series’ history, surpassing the season two finale, which had a runtime of 78 minutes.
Deadline reports that season three of the Emmy-winning anthology drama, created by Mike White (School of Rock, Enlightened), is the largest installment yet with eight episodes—more than the six-episode debut season and seven-episode follow-up season. Set in Thailand, the season has unfolded with intricate character arcs, all of which are set to reach their climax in what is expected to be a tense and dramatic conclusion.
Among the major storylines coming to a head, the Ratliff family teeters on financial collapse as patriarch Timothy, played by Jason Isaacs (Harry Potter & The Chamber of Secrets, Archie), hides the truth from his wife and children as he self-medicates with lorazepam. Meanwhile, Rick, played by Scott Glenn (The Hunt For Red October, The Defenders), has face-to-face confrontation with his father’s killer but ultimately holds back from taking revenge. Elsewhere, Piper, played by Sarah Catherine Hook (Cruel Intentions, First Kill), spends the night at a Buddhist monastery with Lochlan, played by Sam Nivola (White Noise, The Perfect Couple).
Via Deadline, Other key subplots include Greg and Chloe—played by Jon Gries (Napoleon Dynamite, Dream Corp LLC) and Charlotte Le Bon (The Hundred-Foot Journey, Cheyenne & Lola) respectively—hosting an exclusive party where Greg makes veiled offer to Natasha Rothwell’s (Sonic The Hedgehog 3, How to Die Alone) character Belinda, dangling $100,000 in front of her to open her own spa—albeit with strings attached. Meanwhile, the long-standing tension between Michelle Monaghan’s (MaXXXine, Bad Monkey) Jaclyn Lemon, Leslie Bibb’s (Iron Man, Palm Royale) Kate and Carrie Coon’s (Gone Girl, GhostBusters: Frozen Empite) Laurie reaches a boiling point when one of them makes a shocking discovery which involves stolen jewelry.
The super-sized season three conclusion of The White Lotus follows recent trend of extended finales, including Severance season two, which wrapped with a 77-minute episode. As the series builds toward its explosive final moments, fans can expect intense confrontations, shocking revelations, and the signature satirical edge that has defined The White Lotus since its debut.
The White Lotus season three finale will air on HBO, with streaming available on Max.
