- Spoiler Alert: This article discusses the details of the Season three finale of The White Lotus.
After a drama filled season three of HBO’s hit series The White Lotus, the final episode has seemingly gone down in history for actor Sam Nivola, (known for White Noise and Eileen) who plays Lochlan Ratliff, “being the first murder victim who lived to tell the story” according to Deadline. Following the wild moments which brought the season to a close, Sam Nivola digs into the deeper details of the final episode of season three.
Nivola’s character Lochlan finally faced his brother Saxon, played by Patrick Schwarzenegger (Grown Ups 2 and The Benchwarmers), with rumors of incest after episode six’ drug crazed moments. Overall, the last few episodes of season three have built up exciting drama while squashing rumors at the same time. The finale also saw Lochlan’s sister Piper (played by Sarah Catherine Hook) reject her brother’s offer to spend a year in a Thai Bhuddist Temple. But the drama only continued to build throughout the episode, with Lochlan’s father, Timothy, played by Jason Isaacs of Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets and Peter Pan, facing financial hardships, decided to murder his family, excluding Lochlan, though, who seems to care about money the least. However, Lochlan seemingly ‘dies’ after his father changes his mind, after picking fruit from a poisonous suicide tree, and accidentally leaving some seeds in the blender in which he was using. Lachlan makes a protein drink later, throws up and passes away, only to be woken up later after having several intense visions. Lachlan revives only after the deaths of Rick and Chelsea, played by Walter Goggins of The Hateful Eight and Aimee Lou Wood of Toxic Town.
In Deadline’s interview with Nivola, the Perfect Couple actor opened up regarding the details of the drama surrounding the finale, and even more from behind his first death scene as an actor. “Did knowing that Lochlan is headed to that near- death experience impact how you played him throughout the season?” Deadline asks. “I didn’t actually play him differently,” replies Nivola, “I think Walton and Aimee Lou’s storyline, for example, feels very much like there’s a Chekhov’s Gun involved, and some sh*t is gonna hit the fan, and someone’s gonna die, and I think they did a great job of playing that suspense the whole time.”
Following the series finale, season four of The White Lotus has already been confirmed, with a possible new location in the script. The fourth season, while filming has not yet started according to an article on the announcement by People , it is being discussed for 2026.
