Brace yourselves, it looks like we have another Jon Snow situation on our hands, which probably means social media is about to explode.
Last week on The Walking Dead, we saw what looked like the end of Daryl (Norman Reedus). Last week’s episode ‘East’ seemed to show Daryl in the line of fire of some close range bullets, but he survived. They only took the better part of the finale to finally let fans know this.
But just because Daryl was safe doesn’t mean this season got a happy ending. The tension between the Saviors and the Survivors came to a climax in the much anticipated finale.
Just as the earlier rumors indicated, the finale for The Walking Dead season 6 was a real nail-biter. The end minutes of the hour-and-a-half finale episode showed what looks like the end for one of the Survivors. The TV series recreated a famous scene from the comics which shows our heroes lined up in front of Negan (Jeffrey Dean Morgan). The sadistic leader of the Saviors plays an evil game of eeny meeny miny mo, pointing his barbed-wire covered baseball bat named “Lucille” at the Survivors to decide whom to kill. As Negan goes to deliver what could very well be a death blow, the perspective shifts to first person, meaning we don’t know whom was chosen. You see Lucille crack down on someone’s head, their ears start ringing, and blood drips down the screen before it cuts to black. But the audio keeps going and you hear the other survivors screaming.
And that is how season 6 ends.
Considering how outraged fans were last year when the last seconds of the season 5 finale of Game of Thrones showed Jon Snow (Kit Harrington) bleeding out, we suspect to see a lot of fan theories on social media. At least this time we had some warning that this is how it would end.
In the comics, Negan kills Glenn (Steven Yeun), which means if Glenn were Negan’s victim and is dead, then the show would be following the original story. Considering the death scare we already had with Glenn earlier this season, it would be particularly cruel for the writers to kill him off now.
