The latest Walking Dead spin off series, which has an expected premiere date during the spring time in 2020 on the AMC Network, has announced what the show will be called: The Walking Dead: World Beyond along with a newly released trailer. (below) The Walking Dead: World Beyond is the third series within its relative universe to be developed following The Walking Dead and Fear the Walking Dead T.V. Shows.
The Walking Dead: World Beyond will consist of 10 episodes and is set ten years after the start of the zombie apocalypse. Set to be somewhere in the mid-west, the series will focus on two female characters Hope played by Alexa Mansour (Madam Secretary; The Resident) and Iris played by Aliyah Royale (The Red Line). They have become the first generation of characters to have grown up in a world familiar to ‘Walkers’ (the undead) but is meant to be from a “first-world situation” through the eyes of these young individuals as described by showrunner Scott M. Gimple. Additional series cast will include Nico Tortorella (Younger), Hal Cumpston (Bilched), and Nicolas Cantu (The Unicorn). Executive Producers and showrunner Scott M. Gimple collaborates with writer and producer Matt Negrete and director Jordan Vogt-Roberts.
The success with The Walking Dead franchise has allowed for the series to continue to run since its start in 2010. The show is currently in its 10thseason and has even been picked up for an 11thseason according to an article from The Hollywood Reporter back in October due to an announcement that was made at New York City Comic-Con. The popularity for the series has allowed for several series in The Walking Dead universe to be developed including this new spin-off. It has also been rumored from TV Guide that the AMC Network has picked up a Rick Grimes film trilogy. The Walking Dead airs every Sunday and Season 6 of Fear the Walking Dead is set to premiere in 2020.
