‘The Walking Dead: Rick and Michonne’ Title and Logo Officially Confirmed

According to Comic Book, the beloved Walking Dead characters Rick Grimes and Michonne are returning with their own spinoff. Grimes is played by Andrew Lincoln (Love Actually, Penguin Bloom) and Michonne is portrayed by Danai Gurira (Black Panther, The Visitor).

The title has officially been confirmed as The Walking Dead: Rick and Michonne. The working title for the series during production was The Walking Dead: Summit, which has proved to only be the working title.

The logo has also been confirmed for the series, featuring a very militant style font that seems to forewarn the Civic Republic Military, which was the sketchy organization that shuttled Rick Grimes away from The Walking Dead years ago.

The last time that Michonne actually saw Rick was not the most pleasant for viewers. Rick seemingly sacrificed himself by blowing up a bridge to save his family and friends from an insane amount of walkers. Not in Michonne’s knowledge, Rick was actually rescued by character Jadis/Anne (Pollyanna McIntosh, The Woman, Darlin’). McIntosh’s character then unfortunately traded him to the Civic Republic.

After many years, Michonne eventually learned that Rick had survived the explosion. She then sets off to find him and bring him home.

A quick synopsis was provided by AMC’s streaming service, AMC+ saying that “the love story of Rick Grimes and Michonne is changed by a changed world. Kept apart by distance. By an unstoppable power. Can they find each other and who they were in a situation unlike any they’ve ever known?”

Scott M. Gimple (Fillmore!, Ghost Rider: Spirit of Vengeance), The Walking Dead Universe chief content officer, who is the creator of the series and also the showrunner, described the series as “an epic and insane love story.” Which is simply exciting to hear!

Gimple also mentioned that “these are two people that have been separated for a very long time. They’ve lived whole other existences and they have to find themselves again, let alone each other. It’s hopefully going to be mind-blowing… we see this incredible power couple, but we also see that Red Machete Rick. We see that Michonne who taught a thing or two to the Governor. [The series] kind of goes coast to coast that way between the intimate and the epic and the insane.”

Whether this is a happy love story (but how could it really be with everything going on?) or not, viewers are excited for The Walking Dead: Rick and Michonne.
