Comicbook.com recently reported the ratings from The Walking Dead‘s midseason premiere on Sunday night.
After half a season rife with heartbreak and intrigue, The Walking Dead served up its third best numbers of the year for its return. With no more Sunday Night Football to serve as competition, that clears the way to take TWD numbers to even higher heights in the coming weeks.
To its credit, however, the series did manage to hold its own against The Grammy’s, which were also airing on Sunday night. But even with that competition in place, The Walking Dead received a 13% increase from the midseason finale of season 7, and a 12% increase in the key demographic against “Hearts Still Beating.”
All things considered, “Rock in the Road” received a 5.7 rating in the key 18-49 demo and 12 million viewers in total. The episode was directed by executive producer Greg Nicotero, and you can read mxdwn’s recap here.
Courtesy of Comicbook.com, the breakdown for each episode of season 7 is as follows:
- 7×01: 17.03 million
- 7×02: 12.46 million
- 7×03: 11.72 million
- 7×04: 11.40 million
- 7×05: 11.00 million
- 7×06: 10.40 million
- 7×07: 10.48 million
- 7×08: 10.58 million
- 7×09: 12 million
With these impressive numbers in tow already, The Walking Dead is likely poised to break the midseason premiere with its season finale.
The Walking Dead airs Sunday nights on AMC.
