Fans of The Walking Dead can most likely expect the series to make its triumphant return this Fall. As the months go by and our appetites are diminished with replacement programming, its always refreshing to know what the writers have in store for the upcoming season. And, who better to rely on for insider details than The Walking Dead co-stars themselves?
Let’s recap the season 7 finale: Rick, Maggie, Ezekiel and Sasha let Negan and the Saviors know they are a unified bunch, leaving the Saviors declaring an all-out-war. Based on the comics that the TV series more-or-less follows, viewers can expect battle to unfold early next season. The finale wrapped with cliffhangers and several questions, some posed by Business Insider. When did Jadis and the garbage pail kids strike a deal with Negan? Will Negan try to capture a now visible Maggie? How did the Hilltop and Kingdom survivors get into Alexandria undetected? (Shiva, the tiger included.) Can Rick trust Dwight? And, will we learn of Heath’s whereabouts?
ComicBook.com caught up with Pollyanna McIntosh who plays Jadis at Walker Stalker Con in Nashville, Tennessee to beg the question if her character will see a transition into the bald-headed Alpha, leader of the Whisperers group who are known to be making appearances in season 8. “I think, you know, in a very diplomatic, politician type of way,” McIntosh vaguely suggested. “I can say I think anything is possible in this universe we’re inhabiting right now and that’s one of the really strong points of the show because I’m not gonna tell you anything!”
At the same convention, Tom Payne who plays Jesus told ComicBook the first few episodes of season 8 “are some of the best that have ever been shot.” Payne elaborates on one scene coming to fruition, saying, “It’s a sequence that was shot which has never happened before in the show and I’m really excited to see it myself and for the audiences to see it.”
Recognizing fan buzz on the shows slower-paced 7th season, Payne concurred, saying, “I mean the last season was a bit of a bummer in a lot of different ways and it was tough for everyone to film and then to watch,” later adding, “We’re all exhausted mentally and physically but that’s because we’re all working our asses off to make the show as kick-ass as it can be so I’m super excited for October to come because I want to see stuff that’s been shot.”
According to Den Of Geek, Dead fans can expect season 8 to kick off with its 100th episode. For now, viewers can catch up on new episodes of Fear the Walking Dead which airs Sundays at 9 p.m. ET on AMC.
