The View returned this early Monday morning with a panel featuring Whoopi Goldberg, returning co-host Rosie O’Donnell, Rosie Perez, and Nicole Wallace, The Hollywood Reporter has learned.
The show started this morning with the four ladies kissing the hand of an unidentifiable woman seated in a regal red chair, who was revealed to be the now-retired co-host, Barabara Walters.
Exciting announcements were made my the hosts including Goldberg’s introduction of “the newer View” which is filmed in an ABC Broadcast Center studio space. Additionally, Rosie O’Donnell shared with the audience that she has both gotten married and lost weight, thanks to a surgical procedure, since the last time she co-hosted the show.
The meat of the morning show consisted of a discussion over the domestic abuse scandal associated with football player, Ray Rice. Brief tribute to those who have been died recently was offered by the hosts, including to Richard Attenborough, Robin Williams, and Lauren Bacall.
Finally, the show was sealed with a performance by Krisitin Chenoweth to pay tribute to Joan Rivers. Chenoweth performed her song, “Borrowed Angels” which brought Goldberg and O’Donnell to tears, according to The Hollywood Reporter.
