For nine years, Stranger Things fans have puzzled over deceptively simple question from season one. According to Comicbook, the theory in question first surface back in 1983 when Will, played by Noah Schnapp (Hubie Halloween, The Tutor) disappear being taken by the demogorgon into the Upside Down and came out alive, but somehow transformed. Afterwards, the theory further explains that the Upside Down wasn’t a parallel world by a bridge shaped by the victim’s memories, and when Will enter of the gates created by Eleven, played by Millie Bobby Brown (The Electric State, Damsel), he subconsciously created a distorted version of the town and refuge for himself to survive.
Reported by Comicbook, it would appear that Vecna is trying to duplicate the process with the 12 kids he has captured which includes Holly, played Nell Fisher (Bookworm, Evil Dead Rise) and Derek, played by Jake Connelly (Between The Silence), in order to complete his goal into reshaping the world. Vecna takes his time, meticulously selecting his victims because he recognizes the hidden powers within them. He is determined to unleash these abilities to their fullest potential.
Comicbook states, prime example of the series confidently foreshadowing its potential spinoffs occurs when Mike, portrayed by Finn Wolfhard (Ghostbusters: Frozen Empire, It), inspires his little sisters by introducing them to a cleric character named Holly the Heroic, who possesses the incredible ability to open portals. This could showcases a series focusing on Holly unlocking and honing her new abilities.
This sets the stage for a dramatic emotional climax, where the group, recognizing the risks, prepares for a challenging journey to enter the alternate world and confront Vecna. This concept also paves the way for potential future spin-off series in the franchise. The two volumes of the final season of Stranger Things are currently available to stream on Netflix, with the third and final volume set to debut on December 31.
