‘The Sinner’ Renewed By USA Network For Fourth Season

USA Network has renewed the thriller drama series The Sinner for a fourth season, according to Deadline. Bill Pullman (Sleepless in Seattle) will be returning to his role as Detective Harry Ambrose, continuing with a new “whydunnit” case in the upcoming season. The Sinner is set to premiere in 2021.

Derek Simonds (Seven and a Match) will return as showrunner and executive producer alongside Jessica Biel (7th Heaven), Michelle Purple (The Book of Love), and Charlie Gogolak (This is Us). Other details about who will follow in the footsteps of Biel, Coon and Matt Bomer (White Collar) as the fourth season’s token sinner.

The first installment of The Sinner received two Golden Globe nominations, two Critics’ Choice Award nominations and an Emmy nomination for Biel’s acting. The second season scored a SAG nomination for Pullman and Critics’ Choice Award nomination for Carrie Coon. The Sinner‘s third season is ranked as USA’s #1 original series in key demos and USA’s #1 original series across all platforms among total viewers for this year.

Each season follows a single, titular sinner and delves deep into the gray area of human behavior. The performances offer brilliant and captivating story arcs of each character. Pullman remains to be the face viewers recognize as seasons progress; his presence is mysterious and complex given his traumatic past, yet he handles each case with compassion and is empathetic towards the accused.

In a statement reported by Variety, President of USA Network and SYFY Chris McCumber said, “The Sinner has struck a chord with audiences with its signature ‘whydunnit’ style. In Season 4, we’re excited to dig even deeper into the psyche of Bill Pullman’s beloved Detective Ambrose character, while introducing our audience to a compelling, completely new mystery.”

The first three seasons are available to watch on USA Network and can be streamed on Netflix.
