According to TVLine, Morpheus in The Sandman appears as stoic as ever in season two of the Netflix series. An exclusive photo captures actor Tom Sturridge behind the scenes as the series’ lead character. Click here to view the Sturridge in action. The Sandman, a dark fantasy series adapted from Neil Gaiman’s(Doctor Who, Good Omens) acclaimed comic book series, follows Dream, also known as Morpheus, one of the seven Endless anthropomorphic embodiments of powerful natural forces.
After being captured and imprisoned for 106 years in an occult ritual gone wrong, Dream escapes and sets out to restore order to his realm, the Dreaming, while addressing the chaos his absence has caused in both the Dreaming and the waking world.
The first season covers the story arcs Preludes and Nocturnes and The Doll’s House, while the upcoming second season will explore Season of Mists and Brief Lives. The series features a stellar cast, including Tom Sturridge (Sweetbitter, The Hollow Crown: The Wars of the Roses) as Dream/Morpheus, Gwendoline Christie (Game of Thrones, Star Wars: The Force Awakens) as Lucifer and Vivienne Acheampong (The Witches, The One) as Lucienne.
Morpheus/Dream certainly appears prepared for battle, which is fitting, considering season two will introduce even more members of his unpredictable, powerful family than in the first season.
TVLine reports that the second season will introduce several new faces, including Esme Creed-Miles (Hanna, Dark River) as Delirium, Adrian Lester (Primary Colors, Hustle) as Destiny and Barry Sloane (Revenge, Six) as The Prodigal — previously unseen siblings of Dream. The Sandman is set to return in 2025, and fans can get a sneak peek with a behind-the-scenes featurette to share their expectations for the upcoming season in the comments section.
TVLine also mentioned that fans can expect even more drama and intrigue as Dream’s complex family dynamic takes center stage as The Sandman gears up for its highly anticipated second season.
