The Rings of Power’ Director Reveals That The Tone Of Season Two Will Be “Edgier

The Rings of Power is set years before the events of The Hobbit and the Lord of the Rings. The series first made its debut on Prime Video back in September 1, 2022. It follows the perspective of a young Galadriel played by Morfydd Clark (Crawl) as she sets on a journey to solve a mystery, we also get to see the viewpoint of additional iconic character such as a young Gandalf played by Daniel Weyman (Foyle’s War) and Elrond played by Robert Aramayo (Game of Thrones). The season ends with Galadriel finding out the identity of the Sauron, who was portrayed by Charlie Vickers(Medici), as he fled to Mordor.

Director of the second season, Charlotte Brändström(Sweet Revenge) has teased that it will have an edgier tone than its predecessor. According to Screenrant, it an interview with Jonatan Blomberg from MovieZine, Brändström commented, “What I know and what I can say for a fact is that it’s going to be darker, and it’s going to be edgier and more character driven. I still think that we have some very interesting episodes coming up. I watched all of them over Christmas, just the cuts. I think it’s going to be a very good season. We tried to make it more gritty, a little bit more dirty I guess. And not in the image, but to make it as authentic as possible. We have some very surprising twists and turns in it as well.”

Overall, while plot details remain under wraps, season two of The Rings of Power promises to be an even grander adventure. The second season could potentially explore more into the events of creating the master’s ring and delve deep into the characters and how they’ve evolved. The entire first season of The Ring Of Power is available to stream now on Prime Video.
