According to a video released by Nexus Point News, The Punisher: Special Presentation has wrapped filming. In the video, John Bernthal (The Walking Dead, Daredevil: Born Again) is seen giving a wrap speech thanking the cast.
“I really believe that with heart, and belief, and with teamwork, and love, the impossible really is possible. And This M*********er was impossible,” The Punisher star says, likely referring to the short filming schedule. “But we really F*****g did it.
Bernthal originally appeared as The Punisher in Netflix’s Daredevil, a three-season television show that focuses on the character of the same name. Later, he went on to star in his own series, The Punisher.
Both shows follow the crime-fighting exploits of the titular character, whose real name is Frank Castle. Castle is a veteran who returns home only to witness the death of his wife and child at the hands of criminals. From then on, he takes on the alias The Punisher, becoming a crime-fighting vigilante who isn’t afraid to kill.
Bernthal’s last appearance as the character was in the Disney+ 2024 series Daredevil: Born Again. With Daredevil and The Punisher moving to Disney+, Daredevil: Born Again served to officially connect the Netflix Marvel series and their stories to the events of the long-running Marvel Cinematic Universe, with many from the original show reprising their roles.
Recently, fans were given a sneak peek at The Punisher: Special Presentation with an image of Bernthal as Castle. In the image, Castle ditches his less conspicuous outfit for a more comic-accurate costume that is completely black except for a large white skull across his chest.
A few months ago, it was also announced that Bernthal would reprise his role as Castle in Spider-Man: Brand New Day alongside Tom Holland’s Peter Parker and Mark Ruffalo’s Bruce Banner, suggesting that he will take a more significant role in the Marvel Cinematic Universe going forward.
