According to The Hollywood Reporter, Hollywood had a big night last Sunday when millions tuned in to watch the 77th Emmy Awards. The star of HBO Max’s The Pitt and Outstanding Actor in a Drama Series winner, Noah Wyle (ER, Feel), showed his support to the healthcare and first responder community by wearing a tuxedo created by FIGS, a healthcare scrubs apparel company.
Wyle got the idea from his interview at the Gotham TV awards, where he was asked if his tuxedo was as comfortable as his scrubs he wears as Dr. Michael “Robby” Robinavitch, according to The Hollywood Reporter. Wyle took that charge to FIGS, which made him a custom tuxedo for the ceremony.
The Hollywood Reporter mentioned that the midnight-blue suit designed by FIGS is meant to feel clean, classic, and sleek. The collar of the shirt features the phrase, “Awesome Human,” which is FIGS’ slogan. FIGS noted that this was a one-of-a-kind suit designed solely for the purpose to be worn at the Emmys and that this will not be available for sale.
According to The Hollywood Reporter, Trina Spear, the CEO and cofounder of FIGS, said in a statement, “Tonight, Noah is proving that the health care community deserves a seat at every table, including television’s biggest night. “By honoring health care workers, Noah’s commitment to authentically representing these extraordinary indiviuals on the red carpet embodies everything FIGS stands for. We are honored to create this one-of-a-kind piece that celebrates all health care workers off the screen. We thank Noah for championing health care workers and their stories through his art.”
The Hollywood Reporter noted that Wyle is an advocate for real-life health care workers. He uses his role’s popularity to express his appreciation during interviews. And he championed healthcare professionals again as he accepted his Emmy on Sunday night, thanking those entering or just leaving a shift. Season one of The Pitt, which won Outstanding Drama Series, is available to stream on HBO Max.
