Alamo Drafthouse Cinema was started in 1997 as mom and pop small theater in Austin, TX. 29 years later, the name expanded with 40 locations and counting. Alamo Drafthouse made a name for themselves, not only by combining dining service with the movie-going experience, but also showing great flicks and high class events. Alamo Drafthouse created Fantastic Fest, another realm that was considered a genre film festival dubbed “The Geek Telluride” by Variety featuring indie film makers. Alamo Drafthouse continues to expand its beginning in new and exciting ways, starting with and continuing with the American Genre Film Archive, a non-profit film filing dedicated to protecting, keeping, and restoring old films, and with several new theaters announced for this year and beyond.
