Variety reports that The Path, Hulu’s religious drama has premiered its second season at the Sundance Sunset Theatre as cast and crew wait for its upcoming second season premiere on Hulu. The Path recognized as a cult drama has shown to make an impact on religious issues and according to the executive producer, Jessica Goldberg “Religion is one of the biggest subjects in the world and you rarely hear about it (in television),” Goldberg said. “They’re really brave. They let us be brave,” she said of Hulu.
The show is controversial for the fact that it shows the fascination with religion, as Goldberg, like many of those who worked on the series, has been fascinated with religion from a young age. And yet, religion is so central to many people’s lives, said Hugh Dancy, who plays cult leader Cal Roberts.
The series specifically goes towards controversy, and with cast members like Dancy, Aaron Paul and Michelle Monaghan, it is slightly dramatized, causing those like Dancy to question the human condition. “I think that’s the human condition,” Dancy said on the red carpet to Variety. “One of the better and terrifying aspects of the human condition is that we’re all prone to, potentially victims of, and can benefit from faith.”
Whatever faith you might have, there is always concerns over religious cults. There is a piercing brainwash and there seems to be no way out of them. The Path is concerned with the issue over what is acceptable in religion and what should be reinforced once a cult does continue or remain. It is basically slightly different to those other religions which focus on one thing.
The second season trailer has premiered as well and shows the creative freedom that Hulu has managed to introduce to their viewers. With the other shows on Hulu that has a second life, The Path is welcoming and will profit for the streaming service as an award-winning drama that has no end.
The Path‘s second season is set to premiere on Hulu Jan. 25.
