The Outpost is yet another project that had its production interrupted by the coronavirus pandemic in mid-March. The fantasy-adventure series is expected to resume filming the third season on June 12 if conditions permit, according to Deadline.
CEO of Electric Entertainment Dean Devlin and Arrowstorm Entertainment’s Jason Faller and Kynan Griffin gave the aforementioned announcement following California Governnor Gavin Newsom’s guidelines. Both teams act as executive producers for the show alongside Balkanic Media, which is the production company based in Belgrade, Serbia. Shooting will recommence for about ten weeks in Serbia – continuing after the previously completed first five episodes of the third season.
For safety purposes, there is a full post-isolation plan in place that will unfold during the production of The Outpost. Dr. Branka Matijasevia acts as the production’s medical advisor and has worked as an on-set production doctor on TV shows such as Survivor Serbia and Survivor Slovenia. She intends to meet the requirements set by the Institute of Public Health of Serbia for COVID-19 prevention. Her plan includes daily physical examinations of the cast within pods, having medical files on hand for easy accessibility, and training for all crew members to ensure safety measures are maintained. Specifically, her procedure includes auscultation of lungs and heart, ECG, tension measurement, saturation measurement and checking for febrile.
Deadline records Devlin saying, “We are excited to be one of the first productions to resume after the TV and film industry was put on pause. Balkanic Media has gone above and beyond to ensure everyone’s safety on-set, and we are happy that the third season of The Outpost will be completed and ready to premiere Fall 2020.”
The Outpost‘s third season will star Jessica Green (Lightning Point), Jake Stormoen (Extinct), Imogen Waterhouse (Braid), and Anand Desai-Barochia (Foster Boy). Set to premiere in as early as Fall 2020, The Outpost’s third season can be streamed on The CW Network within the U.S. and it will be available on a variety of international platforms as well.
