Netflix’s One Piece has become the most in-demand show of 2023, ComicBook.com reports. The live-action version of the popular anime premiered on Netflix in August 2023, and since then it has reached the Top 10 of the streamer for weeks. The expectations for this show were high, so One Piece was supposed to live up to the magnificence of the anime. “Adaptations, such as One Piece, can face pressure from fans when compared to the original source material. However, in despite of these expectations, the live-action series was successful in regard to viewership.
As stated beforehand, One Piece was able to stay on the Netflix Top 10 Chart for weeks, and the show has now been renewed for a second season. There is no official date for the series to begin filming again yet, though.
According to the chart, via ComicBook.com, the most in-demand TV shows of 2023 are the following:

- The Night Agent (Netflix) – 30.1x
- Squid Game: The Challenge (Netflix) – 29.2x
- The Fall of the House of Usher (Netflix) – 29.1x
The success of this live-action has made Netflix add most of the previous seasons of the original anime, including the new season, named “Egghead Island Arc,” which has premiered on the streamer on January 13. Although the new season has been added to the catalog, Netflix doesn’t have all 21 seasons of the anime, which leaves the new viewers with incomplete content to catch up with. If they still wish to stream all the complete anime series, it’s available on Funimation with a premium subscription of $9.99/month.
