Recently, Critical Role, a fantasy web-series revolving around a group of professional voice actors who improvise and roleplay their way through various Dungeons and Dragons campaigns, has announced that they are partnering with Cinemark theaters for a two-part special titled: The Mighty Nein Reunited. According to Cinemark, this theatrical experience will simulcast in over sixty-three theaters nationwide, with nine select international screenings in South America.
This marks the third time that Critical Role has joined forced with Cinemark theaters to broadcast on the silver screen. According to Justin McDaniel, Cinemark SVP of Global Content Strategy, the theater chain is delighted to further build their burgeoning relationship with Critical Role and are more than excited to bring this immersive experience back to their eager audiences.
The first part of the two-part special will be simulcast to theaters on November 17, 2022, while the second part is scheduled to be released a few weeks later on December 1. In conjunction with the theatrical showings, both parts will simultaneously be streaming on both Critical Role’s Twitch and YouTube channels.
The broadcasts will include reappearances from Critical Role founding members: Matthew Mercer (Attack on Titan (dub), JoJo’s Bizarre Adventures (dub), Ashley Johnson (Blindspot, The Last of Us video game series), Marisha Ray (The Legend of Vox Machina, Final Fantasy XV), Taliesin Jaffe (The Legend of Vox Machina, Final Fantasy XIV), Travis Willingham (Camp Camp, Superman: Red Son), Sam Riegel (Amphibia, DuckTales), Laura Bailey (The Last of Us: Part II, Injustice (animated film version), and Liam O’Brien (Star Wars: The Bad Batch, Death Stranding).
The special will pick up several months after the events in Cognouza, following our favorite heroes of the Mighty Nein as they process wounds of old and try to move on with their respective lives, only to be pulled right back into a world of action, fantasy, and adventure by a new threat lurking deep in the shadows.
Tickets are currently on sale now and can be bought here or on the Cinemark app itself.
