The List of Most Pirated Shows of the Year Has Been Released

Every year, people sit down to their viewing methods of choice (TVs, tablets, laptops) and indulge in some fictional stories. Sometimes they pick their shows based on what their television provider gives them. Others find a way to borrow an HBO Go password. And others still will pirate their shows.

In an article by the Playlist, the list of the top ten most pirated shows for 2016 has been released. Any guesses for the top most pirated show? Here’s hint: it has been the same series for five years in a row now. That’s right, Game of Thrones once again leads the list for most stolen show. Admittedly, this makes sense; as our end of year list shows, the series has only continued hitting stronger strides, finally merging together storylines we’ve waited years for. And with the exclusivity of HBO Go and HBO Now (much to their chagrin), the series is still widely available to pirate to those who don’t wish to pay an annual fee.

The other contenders range from expected to unexpected. According to the article, the top 10 pirated series in order are:

1. Game of Thrones

2. The Walking Dead

3. Westworld

4. The Flash

5. Arrow

6. The Big Bang Theory

7. Vikings

8. Lucifer

9. Suits

10. The Grand Tour

With HBO series and long-running favorites like The Walking Dead in the mix, the list is hardly shocking, but it is interesting to see the amount of CW shows and sitcoms that make the cut. However, we could all use a little humor to split up the unrelenting dramas like Game of Thrones and The Walking Dead.
