‘The Hub’ is set for a few changes in the coming months.
Discovery Communications and Hasbro Inc. have ended a near five-year long partnership. The Hub, a channel featuring children’s programming like My Little Pony: Friendship is Magic and Transformers: Prime, is to be retooled as Discovery Family, the Wall Street Journal reports. Originally planned as a game-changing joint venture into children’s programming, The Hub had entered a more competitive field than the two partners planned.
After the split, Discovery will retain primary ownership of the channel, but Hasbro will still have a stake in the channel’s future, with the 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. programming slot left under their supervision. The channel now hopes to focus on both family and children’s programming.
