The chaotic universe of Rick and Morty continues expanding, with a new spinoff series which will heavily focus on the series president of the united sates, Andrew Curtis, voiced by Keith David (Hazbin Hotel, Coraline) and his staff battling interdimensional diplomacy and paranormal investigations. According to Screenrant, the animated series has made achievements from its humble beginning from 13 years ago, quickly becoming the most successful animated series and winning several emmy awards. Along with David, the approaching series will include Stephanie Beatriz (Encanto, Twisted Metal) and Jim Rash (Ironheart, Sky High).
The character has been significant figure throughout the series, by either being at odds with the crazed scientist, Rick, voiced by Ian Cardoni() or a close friend to him. The president of Adult Swim, Michael Ouweleen spoke up in an interview Screenrant,”This is a series we would have greenlit even if it didn’t have anything at all to do with ‘Rick and Morty.’ President Andre Curtis is just that good of a character.”
The series co-creators, Dan Harmon (Monster House, Krapopolis) and James Siciliano (Fashin Victim) give their own opions on the new series with Screenrant,” President Curtis has always been one of our favorite characters to write — he’s the only person in the multiverse who can go toe-to-toe with Rick and still hold office. Now we finally get to go on sci-fi missions from Curtis’ point of view. And with Keith David leading the charge, it’s going to be a wild ride.”
This isn’t the only new project in the works for the franchise, as the team is also in the process of creating a movie. The new spin-off will not only expand the franchise’s lore, but will give the best supporting character the spotlight they deserve. While audience await further information on the thrilling spin-off series release date, all seasons of Rick and Morty are available to stream on HBO Max and Adult Swim.
