The Gray House has yet to receive a second-season renewal despite its debut earlier this year. However, according to ScreenRant, one of the series’ stars, Keith David (The Princess and the Frog, They Live, The Thing), who portrays Henry H. Garnet in the Prime Video western, remains hopeful about the series’ future and recently shared his thoughts on the possibility of a second season.
During an interview with ScreenRant, David said he believes there are still many untold stories from American history that could serve as inspiration for future episodes. While he confirmed he has not received any information regarding a potential renewal, he expressed interest in returning if the series continues.
Executive produced by Kevin Costner (The Postman, The Bodyguard, Dances with Wolves) and Morgan Freeman (Seven, Million Dollar Baby, The Shawshank Redemption), The Gray House premiered on Prime Video in February. The eight-episode historical drama follows four women who transform Underground Railroad operatives into spies during the American Civil War.
The series stars Mary-Louise Parker (RED, Weeds, Angels in America), Daisy Head (Underworld: Blood Wars, Wrong Turn, The Proxy), Amethyst Davis (Kindred, Broken Seeds, Kinfolk: The Series), Hannah James (Mercy Street, Supergirl, Chicago Med), Paul Anderson (Peaky Blinders, Sherlock Holmes: A Game of Shadows, Legend), Ian Duff (We Own This City, New Amsterdam, Judas and the Black Messiah), Christopher McDonald (Happy Gilmore, Thelma & Louise, Hacks), Ben Vereen (All That Jazz, Top Five, The Good Fight), and Phylicia Rashad (The Gilded Age, Creed, The Beekeeper).
Throughout the season, Union spy Elizabeth Van Lew and her allies carried out covert missions behind Confederate lines while risking their lives to gather intelligence during the Civil War.
Although Prime Video has not released viewership figures, The Gray House spent multiple weeks in the streamer’s Top 10 following its debut. Despite its audience success, the series received mixed critical reviews and has not yet been renewed for a second season.
