Created by the power couple Michelle and Robert King (Evil), The Good Fight is a spin-off of the series, The Good Wife, which ran on CBS from 2009-2016. Also created by the Kings, it starred Julianna Marguiles (Dietland) as Alicia Florrick, a woman forced to return to the workforce as a lawyer in the aftermath of her husband’s arrest. Baranski played Lockhart, a cutthroat lawyer and partner at the firm Florrick worked at in Chicago. Baranski then received her own show once the series finale of The Good Wife aired in 2016.

Nicole Clemens, Paramount+ President of Original Scripted Series, announced the series renewal in a statement picked up by Entertainment Weekly: “The Good Fight’s provocative, whip smart, and no-holds-barred world remains as relevant as ever, continuing to entice new audiences as one of Paramount+’s top performing original series and acquisition drivers. We are thrilled to continue The Good Fight‘s enduring legacy with a sixth season and can’t wait to see what the brilliant minds behind the series, Robert and Michelle King, tackle next.”

Beginning its first season during 2017 on CBS, The Good Fight then moved to CBS All Access starting in season two, and is now on Paramount+. The series co-stars Audra McDonald (Private Practice), Sarah Steele (The Good Wife), Charmaine Bingwa (Black Box), Mandy Patinkin (Homeland), Nyambi Nyambi (Mike & Molly), and Zach Grenier (Fight Club).

A critically acclaimed series, The Good Fight has been nominated for two Emmys, including Best Actress for Baranski, and Best Original Main Title Theme Music. Season five is currently streaming on Paramount+, with new episodes airing every Thursday.
