‘The Good Doctor’ Renewed for Season 4

If you are still broken over the shocking Season 3 finale that aired on Monday, you might find comfort in knowing that The Good Doctor‘s next season is set for September 21 on ABC.Produced in Vancouver, the show might need to postpone production due to COVID-19″ with “Produced in Vancouver, the show has yet to postpone production due to COVID-19, unlike fellow Canadian series Riverdale. Currently, executive producer David Shore said that nothing has been decided yet. He explained on Deadline that “we will have to make some decisions” and added that the writers generally meet in “April and May and June to discuss episodes that will be on the air in September, October and November”. In other words, the series might still be able to air on time.

The main cast of Freddie Highmore (Bates Motel), Antonia Thomas (Misfits) and Hill Harper (CSI:NY) will be back for Season 4 but TVLine announced that Fringe actress Jasika Nicole will no longer be a part of the show. Shore commented that “I would love to have her back here and there. I love Jasika, and would love to see her on the show, but it will not be in the same,” leaving Dr. Carly Lever out of the new season.

Based on the 2013 award-winning South Korean series of the same name, the series follows Dr. Shaun Murphy (Highmore), a young autistic surgeon with Savant Syndrome leaving his country life to work at the prestigious San Jose St. Bonaventure Hospital. Since its release in 2017, the medical series has been one of the most-watched ABC series along with Grey’s Anatomy and How to Get Away with Murder with a pilot episode watched by 19 million viewers.

Season 4 will be released on September 21, available on ABC, Sky and Hulu.
