According to Deadline, The Gilded Age is soaring ahead as it approaches its season 3 finale. The last episode has garnered an astonishing 4.6 million viewers since its debut a few days ago. This marks four weeks in a row in which the series has broken its previous high. The show continues to find new audiences ahead of its season finale. This trend appears to have promising prospects for continuing into the season finale and beyond, as previous seasons have also experienced spikes in viewership. This season is currently adding viewers at an insane 50 percent higher than previous seasons, including a 30 percent bump to season one, which has already been renewed.
Deadline reports that Season four has already been renewed, and the hopes are that it can ride this wave throughout its run. The Gilded Age has experienced a die-hard fan base as the show started on HBO’s less sought-after Monday night slot, but the show persisted into a season two renewal. Now it continues to break its own highs.
Via Deadline, the series is a partnership between HBO and Universal Television, a division of Universal Television Group. The show has previously garnered seven Emmy nominations, including Outstanding Drama Series. Additionally, the actors gave it a nod in the SAG awards for Outstanding Performance by an Ensemble in a Drama Series.
According to Deadline, Season three depicts the period after the opera war, the previous establishment is on its way out, and the Russells stand poised to take their position at the top. Bertha eyes a goal that would take the family to places they had never previously imagined, and George takes a risk on a railroad venture that could spell their demise. The Brooks, the neighbors, are thrown into turmoil when Ada’s new position is met with ire by Agnes. Peggy begins courtship with an attractive doctor whose relatives do not appear to relish in her career aspirations. New York will trudge along towards the future, but will its hubris be its demise?
