Showtime is no stranger to acclaimed television, but Billions has received a few approving nods for its star-studded first season. The critically-acclaimed series recently released footage from the upcoming second season, which stars Emmy and Golden Globe winners Paul Giamatti and Damian Lewis.
Billions was created, written, and is executive produced by showrunners David Levien and Brian Koppelman. Andrew Ross Sorkin also shares creation and executive producing credits.
Season two of Billions immediately follows up after the drama in the season one finale. U.S. Attorney Chuck Rhoades (Giamatti) continues to battle against the powerful billionaire Bobby “Axe” Axelrod (Lewis). The two characters persist in their combat of power and money, with sex, law, and morality playing against the New York backdrop.
Wendy Rhoades (as played by Maggie Siff) plays Rhoades’ estranged wife and esteemed worker in the hedge fund field. Lara Alexrod (Malin Akerman) plays Axelrod’s more street-savvy other half. These characters join their husbands in the fight for power and both overt and subtle threats to their lives and livelihoods.
Rob Morrow, Dan Soder, James Wolk, Kelly AuCoin, and Christopher Denham will be guest starring along the course of season two. The series is available to Showtime subscribers via cable, telco providers, DBS, and stand-alone streaming.
Season two of Billions premieres Sunday, February 19th at 10pm. You can watch the first look here:
