Syfy has released a teaser trailer for season three of The Expanse. The premiere date for the new season is Wednesday, April 11th. Syfy said that the new season is, “Picking up immediately following the emotional and suspenseful second season finale, the 13-episode third season finds Earth, Mars and the Belt at war, with each competing entity vying for control. Now, more than ever, the mission to unlock the secret of the protomolecule reaches an all-time high, and every decision made could jeopardize the survival of the solar system.”

The series itself is based on the bestselling book series by Daniel Abraham and Ty Franck. Their pen name is James S. A. Corey. The Expanse is set 200 years into the future. The Milky Way galaxy has been colonized, and the inhabitants of Earth, Mars, and the Asteroid Belt are locked in a struggle for power.
The series follows James Holden (Steven Strait) and the crew of the starship Rocinante. The stars of the show are: Strait, Shohreh Aghdashloo, Dominique Tipper, Cas Anvar, Wes Chatham and Frankie Adams. Both Elizabeth Mitchell and David Strathairn will also join the season three cast in recurring roles. The Rocinante crew‘s mission is to help a botanist Praixdike Meng (Terry Chen) find his missing daughter. She is tied up with people that are working on a dangerous alien protomolecule. Martian marine Bobbie Draper (Adams) is also struggling to survive with Earth politician Chrisjen Avasarala (Aghdashloo). There is also something strange happening on Venus.
Oscar-nominated screenwriting duo Mark Fergus and Hawk Ostby will serve as executive producers, as well as, showrunners, with Naren Shankar.
