The streets of Hell’s Kitchen within the second season of Daredevil: Born Again seems to have hit a big of a snag. Reported by Comicbook, exclusive data were revealed that the second season is struggling to keep up the momentum and has suffered a staggering 50 percent decrease within its viewership rating compared to the prior season. The first season perfectly captured the relentless rivalry between Matt, played by Charlie Cox (Spider-Man: No Way Home, She-Hulk), and Fisk, played by Vincent D’Onofrio (Echo, Hawkeye); however, the second season failed to replicate that same energy.
According to Comicbook, Luminate has calculated the numbers through the first five weeks of new season release and has the viewership has garnered around 4,515,000 views, a sharp contrast to the 8.3 million seen during the same window for season one. This drop comes in the wake with several projects already in production such as Joe Berthnal’s (The Walking Dead, The Accountant) Punisher special and a new Jessica Jones series which was teased by Brad Winderbaum (Werewolf by Night, Thor: Love and Thunder).
Stated by Comicbook, despite a significant drop in viewership, the series remains resilient with an impressive 88% on Rotten Tomatoes. This score demonstrates that the action-packed choreography and emotional performances have kept the majority of the audience engaged and eager to see what lies ahead for the blind vigilante and his growing team.
Stated by Comicbook, the upcoming third season is already in production and features a highly anticipated reunion between Mike Colter (Evil, Plane), Finn Jones (Awake, The Visitor) and Krysten Ritter (Sonic the Hedgehog 3, Nightbooks). Their characters will join Cox’s Matt Murdock in the looming battle for New York. Marvel hopes this fateful crossover” will boost viewership and break new records in the process.
While fans wait for further updates, all current seasons and episodes of Daredevil: Born Again are available to stream on Disney+.
