‘The Daily Show’ To Replace Trevor Noah with Chelsea Handler, Kal Penn, Al Franken, Sarah Silverman & Leslie Jones

Trevor Noah is set to leave Comedy Central’s The Daily Show on Thursday, December 8, and will be replaced by a number of guest hosts including Chelsea Handler (This Means War, Chelsea Lately), Kal Penn (Harold & Kumar Go to White Castle, National Lampoon’s Van Wilder), Al Franken (Saturday Night Live, Trading Places), Sarah Silverman (Wreck-It Ralph, School of Rock), and Leslie Jones (Saturday Night Live, Coming 2 America), as well as Wanda Sykes (Bad Moms, Monster-In-Law), D.L. Hughley (Inspector Gadget, Scary Movie 3), John Leguizamo (Moulin Rouge!, Romeo + Juliet), Marlon Wayans (White Chicks, Little Man), and Hasan Minhaj (Patriot Act with Hasan Minhaj)  before a new host officially takes over, according to Deadline.

A few of the guest hosts have experience with late night shows, with Handler having filled in for Jimmy Kimmel in the past, Penn hosted Kal Penn Approves This Message on Freeform, Silverman hosted I Love You, America with Sarah Silverman on Hulu, and Franken and Jones are Saturday Night Live alums, via Deadline.

The Daily Show is set to return on January 17, 2023, and Comedy Central will appoint a new host in the start of fall 2023, via Deadline. According to Deadline, the show’s producers are looking to expand the seats at The Daily Show to make the hosting team a duo or a trio. The new host may be chosen from the guest hosts, but Comedy Central told Deadline they are trying to “keep an open mind.”

The Daily Show is currently available to stream on Paramount+.
