In the last Comic Con panel ever for Supernatural, it was emotional on both sides of the stage. Singer stated series claim to fame was the actors who he fondly called “magic in a bottle.” First, fans were treated to a video featuring favorite moments from all of the 14 seasons. It was clear that the Supernatural family bond was strong and that the fan’s love was reciprocated.
Jensen Ackles (Dean Winchester) and Jared Padalecki (Sam Winchester) both teared up from the very start. When asked what they were most proud of from their time on the series, Padalecki shed a tear, which was immediately wiped away by Jensen’s handy tissue. Jared poked fun at him for having tissues at the ready, then answered: “This is a really weird sensation,” referring to the last Comic Con panel for the show after a 15-year run. “I’m having out of body experiences… we’re not going to be here next year.” He added that, “For me Sam Winchester will never go away. He’ll be a part of me forever.” Jensen, although emotional, responded more level-headedly: “for me, I’m really proud. After this long on a show to truly love what we do… that’s one of the legacies I’m proud of is knowing that I put in the effort, we all did.…” Ackles added that the series has led to “lifelong friends, experiences of a lifetime.”
Misha Collins revealed that before he joined the series, he had made a dream card. It stated that he wanted to be a series regular and to make lifelong friends with the cast. Clearly, he has achieved his bucket list. When asked what the cast has been up to since the series wrapped, Misha plugged his new cookbook called “The Adventurous Eaters Club” along with a goal of getting a six pack. Jared joked he would have to remove two of his abs in order to accomplish that, implying how fit Misha is.

Concerning the upcoming season, some details were revealed. Alexander Calvert confirmed Jacks reappearance: Jack’s journey and my small part on the show has been incredible.” As for the riveting ending of season 14, when asked how they move forward from that Dabb stated, “we don’t.” There was also talk of God finally making an appearance in the last season. Brad Buckner explained that the series “talked a lot about god so bringing him in during season 14 was a game changer.” Co-showrunner Bob Bernens added that in doing so, it “opens up theme of free-will… dynamic will play out interestingly during the whole season.” He also made a jab at Game of Thrones, stating fans of the last season might be just as angry.
Amidst the heavy emotions, Collins lightened the mood when responding to fan questions. When asked if he was planning on taking anything from set, Misha responded with:“Yes, I have plans. I’ve already rented a semi tractor trailer and built a cage in which I will put Jensen and Jared… but don’t tell them.” “Is this the cage you already have?” Jared quipped back. Jensen calmly requested of Misha, “can I request a separate cage?” Despite this lighthearted jabbing, Misha and the whole panel got serious when speaking of their love for the fans. Collins told the audience, “I do hope this fandom continues to function as a family once this is over,” adding that he hopes fans will share this level of compassion with the world, ending with, “This is a family that’s not going to go away even if this show goes off the air.”
In an ongoing show of love for their “family,” the panel announced that one person will win the classic and iconic car: an exact, hand-crafted replica of the black Chevy Impala, which Dean affectionately refers to as “Baby,” that has almost become its own character in the series.
Both Jensen and Jared cried as they said their last “goodbye” to the crowd, Jensen hiding behind Jared as they exited the stage. Although it may be the last of the series, it is clear that the love of Supernatural fans and the cast and crew will never die.
The finale of Supernatural will premiere October 10, 2019 on the CW.
