This past week, the CW staged a four-day four-show crossover episodes between their shows hailing from DC Comics. All of the shows, Supergirl, The Flash, Arrow and Legends of Tomorrow, all posted ratings gains in the key 18 to 49 demographic.
For Monday night, Supergirl, which kicked off the crossover event in the last few minutes of the show, scored a 1.1 rating in the 18 to 49 demographic and was watched by 3.51 million people, according to TV by the Numbers. The episode matched its season high that was set earlier in the season.
For Tuesday night, The Flash had a great night in terms of ratings. The show managed to get a 1.5 rating in the 18 to 49 demographic and was watched by 4.09 million viewers, according to TV by the Numbers. This marked the first time that the show has been watched by over 4 million viewers since season one. The rating also increased by 0.4 from its last episode.
For Wednesday night, Arrow, which also served as the milestone hundredth episode, scored a 1.3 rating in the 18 to 49 demographic and was watched by 3.52 million viewers, according to TV by the Numbers. The rating from Wednesday night’s episode marked the best ratings for Arrow in a year.
For Thursday night, Legends of Tomorrow barely missed tying its series high. According to TV by the Numbers, the episode scored a 1.1 rating in the 18 to 49 demographic and was watched by 3.33 million people. Even though the episode fell short of meeting its series high rating in the demographic, it is the most watched episode in the show’s short history.
Overall, all of the shows that took part in the crossover had a ratings spike and more viewers this week. TVLine reported that viewership for this week’s episode of Supergirl was up 33 percent in terms of people watching the episode and was up 20 percent in the ratings, The Flash was up 40 percent in terms of people watching the episode and was up 36 percent in the ratings, Arrow was up 84 percent in terms of people watching the episode and was up 86 percent in the ratings and Legends of Tomorrow was up 80 percent in terms of people watching the episode and was up 83 percent in the ratings.
Even though the crossover event helped the four DC Comics shows score great ratings for the networks, the shows that followed each of the episodes weren’t affected much. Jane the Virgin was in line with their average ratings, No Tomorrow increased to a 0.4 rating and Frequency also held at a 0.3 rating.
Supergirl airs Monday nights at 8 p.m., The Flash airs Tuesday nights at 8 p.m., Arrow airs Wednesday nights at 8 p.m. and Legends of Tomorrow airs Thursday nights at 8 p.m., but will be moving to Tuesday nights at 9 p.m. for its upcoming ninth episode.
