Batwoman season two is preparing for its premiere with a sneak peek at Safiyah, according to ComicBook. Safiyah will be played by Shivani Ghai who is known for her role as Felicity in ABC’s The Catch. With more than a few name drops in season one, fans have been eager to find out more about this mysterious villain known as Safiyah and what kind of dastardly plans she has in capable of concocting.
Ghai commented on her relationship to the main villain of season one, Alice (Elizabeth Tudor, Reign.) “She’s not what we expected from season 1. She does come across as someone who is quite charming and kind. She has a definite soft spot for Alice. You will learn as we go on that there’s definitely a much deeper relationship there,” Ghai stated according to ComicBook. Given that Safiyah has a personal relationship with Alice, the two of them could combine forces and create turmoil for the new Batwoman on the block. Ryan Wilder who is played by Javicia Lesley (Corina James, Always a Bridesmaid) will be dawning the cowl.
The last time fans saw Alice was in the final episode of Batwoman season one, she was tending to her new project Thomas Elliot (Ilya Koslov, The Blacklist) as he admired his new appearance. In the finale Elliot’s face was reconstructed to look exactly like Bruce Wayne (Ben Anderson, Apollo 18) and Alice reveals that he is going to help procure the shard of kryptonite that was under Kate’s (Ruby Rose, Orange is The New Black) guard.
In the critically acclaimed Batman comic Batman: Hush, Thomas Elliot made his debut as the titular villain called Hush. True to form, Elliot reconstructs his face to look exactly like Bruce Wayne. Batman: Hush released in 2002, and it was written by Jeph Loeb and illustrated by Jim Lee. It pits the Dark Knight against both friend and foe. Hush proves to be the mastermind behind all of the obstacles Batman had to deal with in the comic and showcases his ability to manipulate and twist others with his cunning wit and silver tongue. Fans of Batwoman will be excited to see how the Arrowverse version of Hush takes on the Scarlet Knight.
