Sullivan’s Crossing will return for another season. According to Deadline, The CW has officially renewed the romantic drama for a 10-episode fifth season.
Production is set to begin later this summer in Nova Scotia, with the new season expected to premiere in 2027. The renewal follows Bell Media’s earlier announcement that CTV and Crave had also picked up the series for Season five in Canada.
Based on Robyn Carr’s bestselling novel series, Sullivan’s Crossing stars Morgan Kohan (When Hope Calls, Batwoman) and Chad Michael Murray (One Tree Hill, A Cinderella Story). The series was created by, who will remain an executive producer after stepping down as head writer ahead of Season five. As Deadline previously reported, Floyd Kane will take over as head writer while Roth focuses on developing Thunder Point, another adaptation of Carr’s novels.
“I could not be more excited that Sullivan’s Crossing will be returning for its fifth season,” Roth said. She added that she is “incredibly proud” of what the cast, crew, and creative team have accomplished, and that she welcomes Kane to help shape the series’ next chapter.
The renewal comes as the drama continues to build momentum. According to Deadline, the series has averaged more than 1 million cross-platform viewers per episode this season on The CW, while Season four reached Netflix’s global English-language Top 10 with 3 million views during its first week in the U.S.
Last week, mxdwn reported that Season five would mark a major creative shift for the series as Roth stepped down as showrunner and head writer after four seasons. At the time, the show’s future on The CW had not yet been decided, despite its Canadian renewal, making this latest pickup the final piece needed to secure Sullivan’s Crossing for another year on both sides of the border.
Season four also marked the first installment without original co-lead Scott Patterson (Gilmore Girls, Saw IV). There are currently no plans for Patterson to return in a significant role for Season five.
