The CW Adds Four New Shows to Round Out Summer Programming Schedule

The CW has added four new, unscripted series to their summer roster in addition to expediting CBS All Access’ Tell Me a Story and Canadian drama Coroner from fall to summer premiere. The four new series were acquired from Canada and the U.K., according to Hollywood Reporter.

Killer Camp has the first summer premiere date on July 16 and was created by the production company Tuesday’s Child with Steph Harris (How Clean is Your House?) as an executive producer. The show will follow 11 Brits who joined the show hoping for a summer-camp-theme reality show. Instead, the contestants are left to compete in a mystery game where people are killed off each week in “increasingly gory, slasher movie-esque ways,” via Hollywood Reporter. The show will be hosted by Emma Hunter (Beaverton).

Taskmaster will debut August 2 and stars comedian Greg Davies (Man Down) as he issues funny, bizarre tasks to five regular contestants who are usually comedians. It was created by Alex Horne (We Need Answers) who also executive produces with Richard Allen-Turner (Catastrophe), Rob Aslett (Not Going Out), James Taylor (Last Week Tonight) and Jon Thoday (Last Week Tonight). It will be directed by Andy Devonshire (The Great British Baking Show) and Hilary Rosen for UKTV.

Fridge Wars will also premiere August 2. Chefs will prepare meals for families they’ve never met with only ingredients found in the family’s home. The show will also be hosted by Emma Hunter (Beaverton). It will be produced by The Gurin Company and the CBC with executive producers Tracie Tighe (Dragons’ Den) and Phil Gurin (Oh Sit!).

Being Reuben premieres August 7 and follows the 14-year-old social media star in an attempt to stay rooted in childhood with his sisters, Coco and Sunny, and mother Vicky in Wales. Created with Richochet Ltd and Krempelwood Ltd, the docuseries will be executive produced by Emma Walsh (The Repair Shop), Blair Krempel (My New Greek Life), and Mark Wood (Cargo), via Hollywood Reporter.

Both Tell Me a Story and Coroner were acquired for two seasons on The CW, so episodes will run into the fall as well. Tell Me a Story, premiering July 28, is a psychological series that turns fairytales into thrillers. The series features Danielle Campbell (The Originals), Paul Wesley (The Vampire Diaries) and James Wolk (Zoo). Coroner, the Canadian drama, follows Serinda Swan (Inhumans) as Jenny Cooper, a Toronto coroner who investigates suspicious deaths. Additional cast includes Roger Cross (Dark Matter) and Alli Chung (A Perfect Plan). The series is based on novels by M.R. Hall under the same name. Coroner will premiere August 5.
