The last time that fans saw Max, played by Sadie Sink (Fear Street Part One: 1994, The Whale) in Stranger Things was back in the fourth season in which she was on the verge of death, but due to the assist by Eleven, played by Millie Bobbie Brown (The Electric State, Damsel) she lived, but put into a deep coma. According to Comicbook, Max made an unexpected return in the first volume of the final season in which she helps Holly, played by Nell Fisher (Evil Dead Rise, Bookworm) escape from Henry aka Vecna, played by Jamie Campbell Bower (Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows, Witchboard).
Comicbook reports, it was explained by Max within the fourth episode she was able to navigate within Henry’s sub consciousness and by hopping through his memories. She then takes Holly to a safe place within, which seems to scare him and she further explains to Holly about the information that she collected about the mind prison their in. Holly then makes the connection to the mindscape being similar to the A Wrinkle’s in Time’s Camazotz, which was a dark planet ruled by brain and crush individuality.
Stated by Comicbook, this foreshadows the upcoming second part of the final season, with the episodes titled “Escape from Camazotz”. This could symbolize that the duo will make their move to escape from the mental prison and to return back to reality. Unfortunately, this does not mean that they are out of dangers because there will surely be new dangers awaiting them along their journey. Only time will reveal if the duo escapes unscathed and alive, and how they will respond to evading one danger and encountering another.
The entire first volume of Stranger Things final season is available to stream on Netflix, with the other volumes respectfully set for December 25 and December 31.
