‘The Boys’ University-Set Spinoff Adds Patrick Schwarzenegger, Sean Patrick Thomas And Marco Pigossi at Amazon

Patrick Schwarzenegger (The Terminal List, Moxie), Sean Patrick Thomas (For All Mankind, The Tragedy of Macbeth), and Marco Pigossi (Invisible City, Tidelands) are heading back to college. The three actors are the newest additions to Amazon Prime’s The Boys spinoff series, according to DeadlineThe Boys derives from the comic series created by Garth Ennis (Batman: Reptillian, Constantine) and follows a misfit group of mercenaries set on demolishing Vought, a corrupt corporation that produces and manages the world’s mightiest heroes.

The still-untitled spinoff series takes place at a college exclusively for young adults training to become future Vought superheroes. The same gruesomely satirical tone will follow students as they train their might and wits in a Hunger Games-style arena. As long as they don’t become distracted by the normal temptations of college co-ed shenanigans.

Full character details have not been disclosed. But, Deadline’s sources relay that Schwarzenegger is set to portray Golden Boy, Thomas is Polarity, and Pigossi will play Dr. Cardosa. The three join a previously announced cast that includes Lizzie Broadway (Instakiller, 16 and Missing), Jaz Sinclair (When The Bought Breaks, Paper Towns), Chance Perdomo (Killed By Me Debt, After We Fell), and Maddie Phillips (Teenage Bounty Hunters, Project Mc2).

Shelley Conn (Mistresses, Bridgerton), Asa Germann (Two Little Boys, Caviar), and Derek Luh (Shining Vale, All Rise) recently joined the series along with a new lead in London Thor (The Girl on the Train, You). Thor replaced Reina Hardesty (Brockmire, The Flash) who departed the series along with Aimee Carrero (Young and Hungry, Maid) and Shane Paul McGhie (Foster Boy, The Last Shift).

Produced by Sony TV Pictures and Amazon Studios, the show is currently in production, according to Deadline. Showrunners Michele Fazekas (Emergence, Reaper) and Tara Butters (Law & Order: SVU, Marvel’s Agent Carter) also serve as executive producers along with Ennis and original show creator, Eric Kripke (Supernatural, Revolution). They are joined by Craig Rosenberg, who wrote the original script.

Additional executive producers are Evan Goldberg (This Is the End, Goon), Michaela Starr (Timeless, The Boys Presents: Diabolical), Neal H. Moritz (XXX, F9), Ori Marmur (Search Party, Passengers), Ken Levin (Elwood, Random Acts of Violence), Jason Netter (Wanted, Driven), Darick Robertson (Happy!, Butcher: a Short Film), Seth Rogen (Invincible, Pam & Tommy), Pavun Shetty (S.W.A.T., New Girl), Zak Schwartz (Covert Affairs, Wu-Tang: An American Saga), Erica Rosbe (You’re the Worst, Good Game), and James Weaver (Good Boys, Neighbors). Brant Englestein (Kevin Saves the World, The Philanthropist) is a co-executive producer.

The original series is slated to debut its third season on June 3 only on Amazon Prime Video.
