‘The Boys’ Creator Eric Kripke Losses House Due To Wildfire Spread In California

According to Comicbook show creator Eric Kripke (The Boys, Supernatural) lost his house among many other residents and celebrity figures who reside in California. Over the past week, large areas of the Los Angeles region have been ravaged by a series of wildfires, particularly the Palisades and Eaton Fires. Since January 7th, these fires have scorched thousands of acres, leaving widespread destruction in their wake.

“We lost our home in the Palisades fire last week,” Kripke shared on Instagram. Despite the devastation, Kripke confirmed that his family and pets are safe, though the loss of his belongings has been heartbreaking.

As of January 13th, the Palisades Fire had spread to more than 23,000 acres, affecting the Pacific Palisades and Malibu areas, while the Eaton Fire had burned more than 14,000 acres. “First, all my love to the firemen and first responders, you guys are heroes,” Kripke wrote, expressing gratitude to the emergency personnel who have been working tirelessly. He also offered advice to others in a similar situation: “The advice I’m telling everyone is to make a list of your valuable objects… After people and pets, those are the things that matter.” According to ComicBook, more than 5000 structures have been destroyed by the Palisades Fire, and at least nine people have tragically lost their lives.

The fires have affected many in the entertainment industry, including comic book artist Andrew C. Robinson (Batman, Spider-Gwen) and writer Steve T. Seagle (X-Men, Big Hero 6), both of whom lost their homes in the Eaton Fire. The destruction didn’t stop there, as J.P. Nickel(The Ark) and his wife Jennifer May Nickel (Gotham Knights, Legacies) were also impacted. The ComicBook article notes that these creators are part of a growing list of individuals affected by the fires, each dealing with a personal tragedy amid the chaos.

In the midst of this destruction, Kripke’s words have resonated with many. “My heart is broken for my community, which I love and fear will never be the same,” he said. While the fires remain far from under control, with the Palisades Fire at only 19% containment and the Eaton Fire at 45%, the support for those affected continues to grow. Rebuilding will be a long and difficult process, but the sense of community and resilience remains strong in the face of such loss.

As the wildfires continue to devastate large parts of Los Angeles, the impact is felt far beyond the immediate destruction of homes and businesses. For those affected, including creators like  Kripke and others in the entertainment industry, the road to recovery will be long and challenging. However, the outpouring of support from the community, both locally and beyond, offers a glimmer of hope amidst the tragedy. As the fires continue to be battled, the resilience of the people affected will be crucial in rebuilding not just their homes, but their lives.
